Zum Bau und zur Überwachung grosser Staudämme sind Instrumente und Monitoring-Lösungen von Leica Geosystems rund um den Globus im Einsatz. Mit ERDAS IMGINE Software und LPS-Software werden hydrologische Projekte entwickelt und überwacht.

Schon seit Jahrtausenden bildet der Nil die Grundlage für das Leben in Nordafrika. Dieser mächtige Fluss ist eine wichtige Ressource, die sich die Menschen in Ägypten längst erfolgreich zunutze gemacht haben. Doch im Quellgebiet des Blauen Nils fehlt Äthiopien die Infrastruktur, um die Möglichkeiten, die der Nil bietet, auch nur annähernd auszuschöpfen. Um dies zu ändern, hat das Wasser- und Energieministerium der Republik Äthiopien eine Machbarkeitsstudie in Auftrag gegeben, bei der es um drei Projekte zur Bewässerung von insgesamt 80.000 Hektar Land geht. Im Rahmen der Studie müssen insgesamt 170.000 Hektar Land im äthiopischen Nilbecken untersucht werden. Das Projekt wird von der Weltbank finanziert und vom Infrastruktur-Consulting-Unternehmen Halcrow durchgeführt. mehr
